Custom Report Example - Activity and Skill Totals Report

This example uses the Activities and Skills module. It shows how to group records and give a summary total of the number of records in each group. The query produces a list of activities and skills and counts the number of individuals for each one. Review the previous example to see the basic steps for creating a query.

 To create the Activities and Skills report:

Add a new query for the Activities and Skills module and give it the title “Number of Individuals in Each Activity/Skill.”

Using the Filter Building window, create the filter condition Skill Number is greater than 0. Please note: Version 11 refers to this field as "Activity Number".

From the Select Fields to Show in Query dialog box, choose the following as output fields: Skill Number, Skill Description, Profile Last Name. Please note: Version 11 refers to these fields as "Activity Number" and "Activity Description". Remain in this dialog box for the next step.

On the Select Fields to Show in Query window, click the Skill Number field in the list of selected fields. Then click Group to see the Select Group Field Type dialog box. Click Group Records First By This Field (GRP 1) and then click Done.

Highlight this field in the Select Fields to Show in Query window. Click Group and choose Count Number of Records in Each Group (CNT). This option counts the number of records in each activity and skill group. Click Done.

On the Query Overview window, click Edit Sort Order. On the resulting dialog box, choose the Skill Number field and click Done.
